Matthew 24 is part of what’s often called the Olivet Discourse (Jesus teaching on the Mount of Olives). In this chapter, Jesus answers His disciples’ questions about:
- The destruction of the temple
- Signs of the end of the age
- His second coming
Leading up to verses 37–39, Jesus explains:
- There will be deception, wars, and tribulation (vv. 4–28)
- His return will be sudden and unmistakable (vv. 29–31)
- No one knows the exact day or hour (v. 36)
